If you had walked into our office during November, you would have thought you'd entered through a time portal into the 18th century. No, we didn't turn off the electricity, and no, we didn't start developing our APIs on paper with a quill. It's just that the office was full of dapper gentlemen twirling their moustaches.

Reason? ReversingLabs participated in Movember 2017!

Movember is an annual charity event that takes place during November, and encourages men to grow moustaches in support of the campaign for men's health. Originating in Australia and run by the Movember Foundation, the event is intended to raise awareness of men's health issues, particularly prostate cancer, testicular cancer, and depression.

Mental and reproductive health are still taboo topics in many countries and cultures. Moreover, young men are not always informed enough about the methods for preventing and detecting testicular cancer. Donations collected during Movember go towards cancer research and treatment, but are also invested in education and promotion of a healthier lifestyle among men.

Over the years, many influential brands and organizations have shown their support for Movember. The list includes Google, UK Royal Mail, Carlsberg, and Sony. ReversingLabs is proud to be among the supporters of Movember. We're committed to doing things for a good cause, and it's even better when our employees get to have fun!

Judging by their Movember-related stories, this experience actually made their lives easier, as they didn't have to shave. While some meticulously trimmed and groomed their moustaches, others went the whole nine yards and grew a full beard. There were even a few unofficial competitions for the best/longest beard, but we never got the results...

On a more serious note, we are glad that our developers showed how much they care, and that they joined the Movember movement. Understanding the importance of men's health, and being able to openly talk about it is important for any collective where the majority of employees are male. Although we're all in a professional environment, it does not mean we shouldn't look after each other and encourage one another to seek help if necessary.
